From Chaos to Calling: Corey’s Story of Redemption
There was a time when Corey’s life looked successful on the outside college athlete, professional basketball player, big dreams. But behind the scenes, things were falling apart. struggle, broken relationships, and deep emotional wounds were taking their toll. Corey describes himself in those years as “consistently inconsistent,” trying to outrun pain with performance and hide insecurity behind false confidence.
Eventually, everything caught up to him. A hospital bed became his wake-up call the place where he was forced to confront what his choices had cost him. The damage wasn’t just his own. It rippled into the life of his son, his family, and anyone who still tried to love him through the storm. That moment, though painful, became the turning point.
An Unexpected Encounter with Grace
When Corey walked into Rise Discipleship Home, he thought he was signing up for a 30-day detox. He didn’t expect transformation. But what he found was a house filled with men chasing after God real men, transparent leaders, and a brotherhood that didn’t just talk about faith but lived it out loud.
Corey’s walls started coming down. For the first time in a long time, he let himself trust. He didn’t just show up he surrendered. Slowly but surely, the old patterns began to break. Shame lost its grip. Discipline took root. And where there had been anxiety and confusion, God started building peace and clarity.
A Heart Fully Changed
The biggest shift wasn’t outward it was spiritual. In the quiet moments with God’s Word, during

prayer, and through conversations with men who had walked similar roads, Corey discovered something deeper than self-help. He found healing. He found identity. He found truth.
Corey’s depression began to lift. He no longer needed to numb himself with substances or validation. God’s love was enough. And with that love came direction. Not only did he get clean he came alive.
Now Helping Others Rise
Today, Corey is no longer the one searching for hope he’s offering it. As a leader in the Rise program, he now walks beside men who are where he once was: broken, questioning, and unsure if change is really possible. Corey is living proof that it is.
He isn’t just helping men find sobriety. He’s helping them become better fathers, stronger leaders, and men of faith who can build something lasting.
Be a Part of More Comeback Stories
Corey’s transformation didn’t happen by accident. It happened because someone believed in what Rise Discipleship is doing and chose to give.
